A culture of giving.
Flournoy Helping Hands represents the heart of Flournoy Companies. From our corporate divisions to our multifamily communities across the country, our mission is the same - serving people and giving back to our communities. Whether through donating to our local United Way, partnering with local charities and service organizations, or simply showing our residents how much we care, our teams are constantly finding new ways to serve the people in our communities. At Flournoy Companies, we know that PEOPLE MATTER, and that belief is at the core of everything we do.
One particular organization that is very near and dear to our hearts here at Flournoy is United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley. Flournoy Companies has been partnering with United Way for nearly 50 years, donating and volunteering with dozens of United Way programs year after year. Through the generosity of our employees, we were able to raise over $60,000 during our 2019 campaign, and were named the 2019 United Way Corporate Partner of the Year.
Feeding the Valley, a division of United Way, distributes food to food insecure individuals, children and families in the community. Flournoy volunteers sorted items at the local food bank warehouse for distribution and delivery to various non-profit partner agencies across the Chattahoochee Valley.
Our team at Rock Island Ridges spent a day volunteering with House of Heroes. House of Heroes is an organization that aims to improve the living conditions of military and public safety veterans and/or their spouses who are in need of assistance in maintaining their homes. The mission of House of Heroes, Inc. is to recognize and honor these veterans and spouses who have served our country faithfully and sacrificially. The team at Rock Island Ridges pitched in to clean, paint, landscape, and provide team logistics.
Flournoy has participated in Read Across America for the past several years. Read Across America is a nationwide reading day that takes place annually on March 2 – celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday. This organization helps motivate children of all ages and backgrounds to read. Flournoy employees participate by reading to children at local elementary schools, sharing the joy of reading and making each student feel valued and loved.
Quarantining is hard, but our on-site teams are there to make it a little bit easier for our beloved residents. While common household and cleaning supplies are in short supply during the nation-wide COVID-19 pandemic, our properties delivered care packages to residents complete with hard-to-find essentials such as hand sanitizer, toilet paper and paper towels.
Women United, a division of United Way, hosts an annual "Power of the Purse" luncheon to raise undergarment donations for the Undergarment program as well as funds for the Scholarship program to help local women and girls in need. Flournoy employees banded together to donate new undergarments and funds to benefit women in our community.
The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program provides clothes and toys to children who would otherwise go without Christmas gifts. Employees “adopted” children from the Angel Tree and purchased clothing and toys indicated on each child's wish list. Employees also assisted with sorting donated items and distributing to families.
